The recent tragedy in Dallas,Texas opened an opportune time for Congress to sneak the Sith’s Dark Act into law. But there could be positive after effects as well. A new dialogue has begun. The continued incidents of mass shootings and violence by and towards police has stirred up sorely needed discussions. There is much talk of late about the need for change and a call for more love in our society. We should cherish this time before this sad story’s lifespan expires and the normally programmed political puppet show resumes. So what does this have to do with our geodesic dome project?
Our open source project is not simply a way to build an efficient home and food production system. The motivation for our continued development is the realization that most problems on our planet are rooted in exploitation. We believe the beginning of change happens by allowing humans a means to live without government dependency – or by selling their soul. The harnessing of our collective human energy by banking cartels and callous corporations has made a small group extremely powerful. The masses are “educated” in the ways that numbers and words control their destiny. Much of the semblance of human authenticity and connection is mostly buried deep and ignored as unrealistic in an unjust world.
There is an unspoken script that we collectively share and follow. Whether by direct structuring and enforcement, or by our daily participation – we all support the same story. Many don’t agree with the way things are, but nearly all contribute by necessity. By default we all are responsible for our current state. The constant changes in politicians does nothing to change our course. The escalating unrest and economic hardships will continue until there are real changes in our daily dialogue and actions. Blaming the police or the protestors is useless.
As Noam Chomsky succinctly states, the people truly have the power, but give it up “by opinion.” Through programming and propaganda we submit to supporting a failed system. The violence and unrest we see should not be allowed to become the new normal. Going about with business as usual is like planning a party on the sinking Titanic. It is not enough to use the same excuses and language of irresponsibility and foregone power. We have the technology and ability to communicate like no other time before. There is an inherent responsibility we also inherit with these powerful new tools.
Our advancing technology is increasingly being implemented towards attaining greater control. We wish for the tools of today to be used towards real change, not for increasing the complexity and profits of the current slave system. So long as we fail to take responsibility for our communities, we will have police to control us. The real police are naturally the community of fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandparents, neighbors and friends. The introduction of police forces in a society represents a community that has lost its foundation. Responsibility for one’s community has been forfeited, and with it – much of our freedom. If we want real change, we must all be the police.
